About this conversation

Steve Field and David Carr remember what first drew them to the revegetation industry and the work of addressing dieback.

Dave and Steve have been involved in the revegetation industry in the New England area of NSW for many years. In this conversation they talk of how they came to this work, some of the pioneers in revegetation in New England, their experiences in revegetation businesses and, in Dave's case, in community groups and Greening Australia. Their conversation covers changes in the New England landscape, local attitudes towards land care and revegetation, and some history of the tree planting movement in New England. They share aspects of what has made their respective businesses successful, talk about changes in their businesses over time and discuss their motivation for the work they do. Dave and Steve share anecdotes from their experiences working with landowners and corporations, and end their conversation looking to the future at how they see the revegetation industry in the area over the next 20 years.
